Masterson’s Pub , positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment became a nightmarish ordeal . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I encountered behind its entrance was disturbing and far below any standard .
The Condition of the Premises : Squalid and Neglected
From the moment I entered , it was apparent that upkeep was not a priority at this bar . The floors were sticky , and a nauseating aroma of uncleaned spills and neglected washrooms suffused the entire bar . With a smell of a mixture of excrement , old age and sour vomit . The bar area , which should be the primary feature of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and trash that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks . The lavatory was in even more deplorable shape — clogged , with a broken handle and walls covered in what I can only assume was feces.
